We needed to make this dangerous bank safe...
Before the building of the garden the bank was very difficult and dangerous to keep tidy.

Timber steps and retaining walls
Vertical Timber sleepers were used to retain the bank. The steps were made using sleepers with bark mulch treads, these were built to give ease of access to the lower area.
-
Shade tolerant plants and safe grassy bank
The planting scheme concentrated on shade tolerant plants and the border was designed to act as a physical barrier to stop anyone falling down the bank.

the lawn through steps and brick paving between the raised beds.
